We would like to give you a little information about how the we got into the Blueberry Business...
In late 2005we were stationed in Guam, and it was time to re-locate. Late one evening while surfing the internet array of available properties… we were getting frustrated with the choices at Michael's new duty station in California, cost vs. size was on our minds; "outrageous" was the common expression.
Suddenly Susan decided to look elsewhere… she entered “Farms and/or Ranches” in Texas. Suddenly there was an exuberant amount of choices and the cost vs. size was more reasonable. The decision was made to start looking for the place that would eventually become our home, after Michael’s retirement from the Navy, instead of a "short term" location.
There were several choices, and lots to learn. We narrowed it down to two locations, one around Arlington, TX and this location in Avinger, TX. We asked Mary Beth (Michael's mother) and Tom (Michael's step-father) to go check them out for us, and provide us with their opinions. Well it didn't take long to get the feedback. Tom's statement was "You better be glad we didn't find it first!" Well that was all the feedback we needed to press forward. It was a bit tricky getting papers signed and all that from overseas, but it all went well, not only were we going to have a great retirement place, we were going into the seasonal “Blueberry” business.
Well… to make a long story short… all went extremely well… and here we are.
We owe it all to Mr. & Mrs. Stark who started the farm several years ago, hence “The tradition continues”… stay tuned for their history coming soon.
